Ophiuchus Truth

I was planning on continuing with Gabrielle Giffords today, but I have to address this Ophiuchus misunderstanding. Don’t worry that your sign has changed, it hasn’t! First of all, this is a nice try by astronomers to debunk astrology, one more time. Every few years they drag out the Ophiuchus constellation to stir things up. Now, with bigger media outlets like social media, people are seeing it more. Here is the deal, Ophiuchus is a constellation close to the zodiac. But western astrology doesn’t use the constellations, we use the seasons to anchor the zodiac signs, and have for thousands of years. For example, the first degree of Aries is always the first day of Spring, always. Astrology is geocentric, or earth centered. It focuses on life on earth and therefore the seasons have the strongest connection. We use what is called the Tropical Zodiac, or seasonal astrology. The media is talking about the Sidereal Zodiac, or constellations, which is used by eastern astrology. So it doesn’t apply and is being presented in an incorrect fashion. Don’t worry and be proud of your sign!

Healing has now begun. President Obama had the perfect words to tell Tucson in this very tough time for our sweet city. I realized that I was embarrassed for Tucson, but now I’m proud. The University of Arizona did an amazing job of creating a classy, caring event. Everyone was quite dressed up, for Tucson. Remember, they were waiting in lines for hours and hours to get in. The Native American Indian professor who gave the traditional prayer was so Tucson. But the main thing that I noticed was the enthusiasm of the audience. The pundits after the show didn’t get it. They said it was confusing to combine a memorial service with a pep rally. I got a good laugh on that one, that I sorely needed. So great, because I’ve been crying for…..5 days? The spirit of the Tucson people shined through all the sadness. We truly are a small community of people who care about our Old Pueblo. We are resilient and will make it through this just fine. Who knows, this tragedy might have a maturing effect on the world. We all do have more in common that we have different, as the President said so eloquently. Tomorrow I’ll go over the tansits of that day and how it especially affected Gabrielle. Word of the day…..Hope.
